Sean P. Callery
Resident CO
Sean P. Callery is a New England–based advocate shaped by lived experience on both sides of the justice system. Raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was influenced early by his father’s 30+ year career in corrections and his uncle Kevin, who was sentenced at 22—first to MCI-Concord, later to Massachusetts Correctional Institution – Cedar Junction, and spent years incarcerated across multiple facilities in Massachusetts.
Sean began his own career in corrections at 19, but by 24 lost his position due to substance use. His addiction ultimately led to a period of incarceration—giving him firsthand perspective as both officer and inmate.
Since beginning his recovery in 2017 in Portland, Maine, Sean has dedicated his life to growth and service. Today, he works in behavioral health, expanding access to treatment for adolescents across New England struggling with substance use and mental health challenges.
Through his work with the Peaceful Prisons Project, Sean is committed to helping shift the system toward rehabilitation, dignity, and real opportunity for change.
