Positive Perspectives

“Positive Perspectives” — is our approach to reshaping narratives through education and empathy. We host events both inside prisons and out in communities to create awareness and connection. Take the phrase "second chance," for example. While it might seem harmless to some, for individuals who were never given a fair start, it can feel misplaced—they may still be waiting for their first true opportunity. By fostering awareness of the power of language and educating our community, we can take meaningful steps to humanize the diverse experiences that make us all human.

Here are some examples of ways you can incorporate a Positive Perspective into a conversation:

  • People with lived experience

  • Formerly incarcerated

  • Currently incarcerated or residents

  • System/justice impacted

  • Those affected by the carceral system

  • Those returning home

  • Those reintegrating
